How to Make a Lovely Sewing Machine Cover
Cute and Easy-to-Make Sewing Machine Accessory
A sewing machine cover is an essential accessory used to protect your machine from dust. Keep it running well by covering it after each use. Most machines come with a cover but they’re either made of a hard material or flimsy plastic. So if you want a sewing machine cover made of a soft fabric, here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to make one.
You’ll need:
- your sewing machine
- tape measure
- fusible fleece
- pins
- fabric pieces
- rotary fabric cutter
Step 1: Take measurements
With a tape measure, take the length and add an extra 1″ for seam allowance. Then take the height and width. These are the measurements you will need to cut for your cover.
Step 2: Cut fusible fleece
Cut matching pieces of fusible fleece for each of the fabric pieces you have cut for the sewing machine cover. You should have three fabric pieces and three pieces of the fusible fleece
Step 3: Cut the pieces together
Lay out the fusible fleece on the table with the adhesive side up. Take the fabric sewing machine cover case and stick it on the fusible fleece. Cut the pieces together. You can add decorative stitches along the edges of each panel.
Step 4: Pin the panels and sew
Pin the backside of the panels to create the shape of a sewing machine cover. To make the job easier, lay the fabric on a flat surface.
Step 5: Stitch the cover
Use a straight stitch to sew the sewing machine cover and the edge of your presser foot as your guide. Once you have done all the sides, turn the fabric inside out and place it over the machine.
